The exhibition opening ceremony and VIP preview day ended successfully
Celebrities and artists from all walks of life attended the event to support the 80th anniversary overseas painting exhibition. More than 70 precious works were exhibited in two phases

The opening ceremony of the May Moomin 80th Anniversary Exhibition in Beauty Paper X Humble Room has been grandly opened on November 22nd. The evening guest preview invited Mr. Timo Kantola, Consul General of the Consulate General of Finland in Hong Kong and Macau, along with representatives of Beautiful Paper, Humble Room May, AS CE and Moomin Hong Kong, as well as participating creative artists including Lai Tat Wing, MCZ_Thomas and Terence Choi. Have a toast together and be the first to enjoy the most authentic Moomin fairy tale.
The exhibition opened with celebrities from all walks of life including soprano Hai Er, fashion celebrities Evelyn Tsai Ying En, Faye Tsui, Vian Lian Ka Ying, calligrapher Tsing Shan Bu Mo, original author of Kowloon Walled City Yu Er, artist Li Chi Tat and Man Seng , Cuson Lo, Paul Lung, Dust Ali, Pen So, Yeh Wai-ching, Moon Patch and other guests and comic illustrators came to support and share the metaphors and emotions behind Moomin’s story.
Every role of Moomin in the past has been with us growing up. During the unveiling ceremony, several distinguished guests shared their reasons for their love for Moomin and their experiences. The Consul General of Finland in Hong Kong mentioned that Moomin has influenced many generations of Finnish families and children The "Moomin Clan" under his pen has been popular with adults and children all over the world for 80 years, becoming a classic work that touches the world.
The most original Moomin fairy tale by Finnish national treasure writer Tove Jannson
Moomin Characters Characters created by renowned Finnish artist, illustrator, and author Tove Jansson, since their debut in 1945, the Moomin series of books has inspired generations of readers around the world with themes of tolerance, kindness, and belonging. To commemorate the 80th anniversary of The Moomins, Beautiful Paper has teamed up with Humble Room May to bring its 80th anniversary overseas at ASCE Gallery in Harbor City, Tsim Sha Tsui from November 23, 2024 to January 5, 2025 Painting exhibition activities, including the first session of “TOVE JANSS ON’s Drawing Book Forest” from November 23 to December 15 and the second session of December 16 to January 5 of “Embracing Hope Hope in the darkness” to experience Moomin’s heart-warming journey!
The 80th Anniversary Overseas Painting Exhibition will showcase more than 70 precious works in two phases
The Moomin Clan enters its 80th anniversary and will be celebrating the 80th anniversary of Moomin worldwide from now until all of 2025, revisiting the first Moomin story created by Tove Jansson, Moomin and the Great Flood . Relish the warmth and security it provides to all asylum seekers, and talk about the universal values of “the door to the Moomin house is always open for you” in the Moomin story. The Hong Kong exhibition will be an 80th anniversary overseas painting exhibition event, with seven precious works and an early 1960s Moomin plush figure in Finland. There is also a giant exhibit photo area and a number of artists invited to create tribute paintings to celebrate the growth of Moomin that has accompanied you and me all over the world over the past 80 years.
The first phase showcases 7 original paintings from Finland + early 1960s Moomin stuffed animals
The seven precious original paintings on display are all from Tove Jansson’s clippings preserved in his Helsinki studio. Made with lithographic printing technology that had just become popular in the 1960s, Tove believed that children should be taught early on what great art is and ensure that they could get the artist’s real work, so he chose to publish Moomin paintings in inexpensive newspapers. However, only 1,500 copies of the first batch of paintings in about 3 to 6 colors were produced, making it rare to have a small inventory. In addition, the early 1960s Moomin plush toy designed by Atelier Fauni, shipped from Finland, is one of the first Moomin products launched by Stockman Department Store in Finland Velvet style, understand the original appearance of the Moomin world.
